ANDERSON, Richard "Dick" - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dick Anderson on Saturday, August 16th, 2008, at the Brantford General Hospital. Dick was born in Chicago and served in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 - 1945. A passion for baseball brought him to Brantford where he continued his illustrious career with the Brantford Red Sox and played from 1950 - 1955. Dick leaves behind his devoted wife Kathleen. He was a loving father to Dr. William Anderson of Thunder Bay and Tom Anderson of Brantford. He was a loving father-in-law to Beth Anderson and a cherished Popa to Meagan, Emily, William and Alison. Dick leaves behind his brother William Anderson (Marilyn) of Chicago, Illinois and sister Muriel (and the late Jack) Carlson of Antioch, Illinois. Predeceased by his father Elmer Anderson, mother Rose and sister Dorothy. He is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children Jaqueline Anderson of Brantford. Family and friends will be received at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, on Tuesday, August 19th from 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. Donations in lieu of flowers to a Trust Account (information available at Funeral Home) would be greatly appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Dick in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
