SNIDER, Donald "Pappy" D.F.C. - Much loved husband, father and grandfather Donald Leonard Snider died at the Brantford General Hospital on Saturday, August 16th, 2008, with his family at his side. Devoted husband of Betty Snider for over 65 years. Much loved father of Dr. Don-Nee German and Nancy (Dr. Robert) Willihnganz. Adored grandfather of Donald Bradley, Dr. Bess and Laura. Supportive brother of Margaret Snider. Born on December 18th, 1918, in Brantford to Helen and Norman Snider, Donald graduated from B.H.S. He was employed by the Bank of Montreal prior to WWII and for 42 years after. He was a flying officer and piloted 37 missions in the 408 Goose Squadron, for which he received the Distinguished Flying Cross. His crew nicknamed him Pappy after the birth of his first daughter. Don served many organizations, YMCA, Optimists Club, Kiwanis Club, United Way, Lions Club, Dufferin Club and his churches. Friends will be received at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, on Tuesday, August 19th, from 2-3 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Donations in lieu of flowers to St. Andrew's United Church or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Don in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
