van KIMMENAEDE, Elizabeth - Suddenly at the Brantford General Hospital on Friday, June 27, 2008, at the age of 52. Loving daughter of Maria and the late Henry van Kimmenaede (1980). Much loved and adored sister of Ingrid. Elizabeth began teaching in the Deafblind Unit at the W. Ross Macdonald School in 1979. She was the principal of the Deafblind Program from 1998 - present. Elizabeth was involved with various organizations such as, Canadian Diabetes Association (Brantford District Branch), Canadian Deafblind and Rubella Association, SKI-HI Department of Communiciation Disorders, Utah State University, Deafblind Perspectives-Teaching Research Division, Western Oregon State College and the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication disorders. Her life was dedicated to the improvement of individuals who are deafblind. This was an integral part of her life and happiness. Friends will be received at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and will continue on Thursday from 12-1 p.m. at Farringdon Independent Church, 287 Mount Pleasant Road. A Funeral Service will be held at the church at 1 p.m. Interment to follow, Farringdon Burial Ground. Donations may be made in Elizabeth's memory to the W. Ross Macdonald School, Deafblind Program. A tree will be planted in memory of Elizabeth in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
