GARKUT, George Zdzislaw - Peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at the Stedman Community Hospice on Friday, June 13, 2008, at the age of 80. Loving husband of Mary. Beloved father of Julian, John (Mary) and David Garkut. He is predeceased by his parents Jan and Marcela Garkut and by his sisters Isabella, Zofia and Teresa. George is survived by his sister Danuta (Pierre) Haas and by his nephew John Szpala. He will be sadly missed by his extended family members and friends. George enjoyed fishing and gardening in his spare time. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue on Wednesday from 12 - 1 pm. A memorial service will take place in in the chapel at 1 pm. Donations may be made in George's memory to the Stedman Community Hospice. A tree will be planted in memory of George in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest
