Obituary of Rhonda Barkley

BARKLEY, Rhonda Mae (nee: Sowers) - Rhonda's family sadly announce her unexpected passing at her home in Brantford on Sunday, April 20, 2014, in her 39th year. She bravely endured many years of hardship due to diabetes since she was six years old. Her body could take no more. Rhonda was the dearly-loved wife of Jacob Barkley, her high school sweetheart. She was the devoted, loving mother of Bryson and Lauren; beloved daughter of Earl and Charlotte Sowers and precious sister of Trevor Sowers and his wife, Kelly, from British Columbia; loving aunt of Corey and Kevin Sowers. Rhonda was greatly loved by Jacob's mother, Shirley Barkley, his father, Grant Barkley, and his sister, Shirley Carroll and her husband Dave and children Taylor and Nick. There are also many loving aunts, uncles and cousins left to grieve Rhonda's passing. Rhonda will be greatly missed by her cherished friend, Hillary Hinds and her family. She will also be missed by her co-workers at TD Canada Trust. Rhonda had a great love of dancing and during her childhood and young adult years she participated and did well in many competitions. Anything Rhonda attempted was given her best effort. She was a graduate of Fish and Wildlife at Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay and loved the outdoors. Friends will be received at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue, on Thursday from 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Brantford. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Kidney Foundation in Rhonda's memory are gratefully accepted. A tree will be planted in memory of Rhonda in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
