Obituary of Jonah Fritsch

Please share a memory of Jonah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Fritsch, Jonah David William October 4,2000-November 3,2023 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jonah Fritsch on Friday, November 3rd, 2023 in his 24th year, after a long, courageous battle with mental health. Beloved son and baby boy of Jennifer McIntyre and Christopher Fritsch. Cherished grandson of David McIntyre and Douglas Fritsch Senior (predeceased) and Mary Ellen Fritsch. Dear nephew of Joel McIntyre (predeceased), Holly McIntyre and Douglas Fritsch Junior and Nadine Simmons- Fritsch (predeceased). Forever remembered by cousins Andrew Fritsch, Jordan Fritsch, Kendra McIntyre and Molly McIntyre. Jonah was known as a respectful, kind hearted, funny young man who always saw the best in people. He loved hockey and cheering for the Pittsburgh Penguins; particularly Sidney Crosby. Next to Sidney Crosby, his hockey hero had always been his cousin, Andrew. He enjoyed going to NHL games with his Papa, David and spending countless hours together discussing the game. Jonah grew up playing hockey with Brantford Minor Hockey Association and his passion for the game and genuine love of his teammates and coaches was well known to all. During his highschool years, Jonah volunteered with the Mini Macs Program teaching young children skating skills. Jonah also loved sports cars and snowmobiling. He had his first snowmobile at the age of 3 years and graduated to a much larger Polaris years ago. He spent hours researching and ordering parts for his Trans Am that he was rebuilding. He treasured spending alone time with his grandma, Mary Ellen and made sure that he visited her often. Jonah was an only child and the youngest child on both sides of his family. He was adored and babied by all; especially by his mother. He attended Our Lady of Providence School from junior kindergarten until graduation and always considered his classmates as family. He attended Assumption College School from grade 9 to graduation. It was in high school that he was given the nickname "slick" because of his beautiful hockey hair that he slicked back perfectly. Jonah always enjoyed school and looked forward to being there. Jonah travelled to many countries with his mother and had the opportunity of experiencing so much during his short 23 years. There are no words that can fully explain how truly amazing Jonah was. Unfortunately, Jonah started to struggle with his mental health a few years ago and despite attempts to connect him with the limited services available, we lost our precious Jonah. Jonah's legacy of kind nature, great team player and cherished friend has left a mark on the hearts of all whom he has met. His genuine smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Family and Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre on Friday November 24th, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Saturday, November 25th, 2023 from 1:00 pm until the service time at 3:00 pm. A Memorial Service will commence in the chapel at 3:00 pm Cremation has taken place. Donations to the Brantford Minor Hockey Association, SPCA or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
