Obituary of Mary Luella Lefebvre

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Luella Lefebvre (nee Henderson)- Died August 15th, 2023 in her 98th year. Predeceased by her husband Kenneth P. Lefebvre, and her parents Herbert Henderson and Luella (nee Tanny). She was educated at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and the University of Toronto. She was registered nurse and worked in public health. Mary was a devout Catholic attending both St. Basil's and St. Joseph's parish churches in Brantford almost daily until stopped by Covid and mobility problems. She was an avid, prize-winning gardener. Mary kept farmers hours, up before dawn and in bed as soon as it was dark. She enjoyed worldwide travel with her husband, Ken. Mary loved to do crossword puzzles and word searches, TV and the Blue Jays. Her favourite colour was yellow and she particularly loved yellow roses. She was predeceased by brothers Donovan and Murray. Murray died at Dieppe while in service with the Canadian Army, and his death had a profound impact on Mary’s life. Special thanks are due the Linda, Michelle, Lori, Eric, Paul, and Len. Mary was quick with a witty (potentially snarky) comment, even as her memory started to fail her, and could be quite funny. She ended every day with a single shot of Johnny Walker Red Scotch. She was a doting aunt to her nephews, Paul and Peter Henderson and a lifelong friend of Helen McDonald. She had numerous nieces and nephews named McDonald, Lefebvre, Maich, Henderson and Groves; who will all miss her lively spirit. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Basil's Parish on Tuesday, August 22nd at 11:00 am . Burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Brantford. Donations to the St. Basil's Parish, St. Joseph's Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. A tree will be planted in memory of Mary in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
