Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
DOMINKO / HOLMES, Charles - It is with heavy hearts that the families of Charles Dominko announce his peaceful passing, at home, on November 11, 2013. Charlie was in his 26th year. He is predeceased by his father and leaves behind his mother and sister. Charlie came to live with Brad and Carol Holmes in 1989 as a 2 year old and enjoyed his life with Brother Aaron and was Uncle extraordinaire to Aleathea and Lily. Charlie was an incredible young man who touched the lives of many; literally and figuratively. His fortitude was short of amazing as he would adapt to each new challenge presented to him with determination. Charlie had no words yet spoke volumes and expressed his happiness and displeasure in a very vocal way. He had an infectious laugh, a beautiful smile and a wry sense of humour. Charlie had limited mobility, until his caregivers were preoccupied, then he would magically transport himself to another room to shred magazines, raid the refrigerator or walk out the door for one of his many independent walks. Charlie loved being outdoors, long walks, windy days, and altering the local landscapes. He loved pool time at Brantwood and reigning over his subjects from his rocker recliner which was always available to him at home, Colborne Street Respite and Brantwood Centre. We wish to thank family and friends for all their support in helping us support Charlie over the past 24 years. Special thanks to Community Living Brant, Brantwood Centre, VON (Barb and Kim) for their dedication and indulgence when it came to Charlie's care. We invite family and friends to attend a celebration of Charlie's life at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave. on Saturday, November 16th from 2 - 4 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Donations to Community Living Brant or Brantwood Community Services would be appreciated. A star in Orion has been named in honour of Charlie so we may continue to look up to the sky every night and say: Night Night Love You. A tree will be planted in memory of Charles in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
