Obituary of David McKinnon
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
McKinnon, David Robert – It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Robert McKinnon, “Dave” on Thursday, January 30th, at the age of 52. Beloved husband of Suzanne (née Kopec) and cherished father of Matthew, Daniel, Jakob, and Ariana. He is survived by his mother, Susan Bishop, his Uncle Russ Bishop (Gwen), and his brothers, Jeff, Darren (Andrea), and Dan (Katie). Dave will also be fondly remembered by Gabriella, Lisa, his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Wendy (Paul), Steven, and Cynthia (Ryan), as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Dave was a warm-hearted and generous man, known for his vibrant personality and sharp wit. Originally from St. Stephen, New Brunswick, he ventured to Ontario in his late teens, embracing new experiences with determination and charm.
A hardworking and driven individual, Dave built a successful career, first in the automotive industry before finding his true calling in real estate. With a natural talent for sales, he thrived as a Real Estate Broker for 17 years. Most recently, he took great pride in his role as Head Coach at Revel Realty in Brantford, where he was deeply committed to mentoring and supporting his colleagues. His guidance was invaluable, and he always took the time to uplift those around him, fostering strong relationships built on trust and respect. Dave’s dedication to his clients and coworkers was unmatched—he was always available, ready to offer advice, and treated everyone with the same level of care and priority.
Outside of work, Dave’s zest for life shone through in everything he did. Always willing to lend a hand, he was a source of support and encouragement to anyone in need. His love for billiards made him a respected figure in the pool community, where he was known not only for his skill but also for his lively personality, quirky dance moves, eyebrow raises, and infectious sense of humor that could light up any gathering that he was a part of, whether it be a family engagement or social outing.
Above all, Dave treasured his family and friends. A devoted son, husband, and father, he was there for every milestone and life event as well as a steadfast friend. He had a rare ability to make every moment special with his kindness, humor, and unwavering support. His presence was truly one of a kind, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
As per David’s wishes, a private family service will be taking place on Tuesday, February 11th, 2025. A Celebration of Life for David will be taking place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the “The Living Rock Resources Hamilton” or “Canadian Association of Mental Health" will be appreciated by the family. Condolences, donations, and tributes are available at www.beckettglaves.com
A tree will be planted in memory of David in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
