Obituary of Sharon Harrington

HARRINGTON, Sharon - With profound sadness we announce that, after a brief battle with dementia and a lifelong struggle with mental health, our mother, Sharon O’dell Harrington (nee Barnett), passed away quietly on December 12, 2024, at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre in Brantford, surrounded by the love of her children. Sharon, known for her sense of humour and love for her family, will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her mother Helen Weir (nee Mulholland), her sister Carole Veevers (nee Barnett), brother-in-law Richard (Dick) Veevers and niece Pamela Veevers. Sharon is survived by her children, Mark (Sabine) Harrington, Shawn (Debbie) Harrington and Tammy (Peter Rothwell) Harrington; her grandchildren, Shelby, Nathaniel, Aly, Joshua, Elijah and Sunny; and many loving nieces and nephews. Our mom was especially gratified to experience a late-in-life connection with Wayne (Kathleen) Barnett and a number of her half-siblings, bringing joy in a very difficult time. The family would like to send out special thanks to Jeannette and Tina, caregivers who went above and beyond and to whom we will always be grateful. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 4th, 2025 at Beckett-Glaves Funeral Home, 88 Brant Avenue, Brantford - where the family will receive visitors from 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service. An interment ceremony will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association or Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB). A tree will be planted in memory of Sharon in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
