Cserni, Elmyra Irene (nee Lamanes)

Passed away peacefully after a brief illness, at the Brantford General Hospital, on Tuesday, March 20th, 2018 in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of Frank Cserni for over 57 years. Loving mother of Frank (Morena), and Amy (Ben) Varty. She is survived by her sisters Dorothy (the late Marcel) Uleryk, and Charlotte (Ernfried) Oberlander. Elmyra was born in her Uncle Kazimir's farm house in Gerald, Sask., becoming a teacher in rural Sask, and finished her career working for the Sask. Gov't. She moved to Ontario in 1964, where she raised her family in Brantford. Friends will be received at the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 88 Brant Ave. on Friday, March 23rd, 2018 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Church, 9 Waverly St., Brantford on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association would be appreciated. Thank you to the Brant County Paramedics, and the staff at the Brantford General Hospital for their compassion and care during Elmyra's final illness and thank you to the staff at St. Joseph's Lifecare for their care during her final years.

A tree will be planted in memory of Elmyra in the Beckett-Glaves Memorial Forest.
